‘도시통신학’은 데이터를 복제, 이동, 병치시키는 통신 네트워크의 방식으로 도시의 시공간을 재조합하고 시각화한다. 

도시를 구성하는 유형의 요소인 건축을 무형의 구성 요소인 네트워크의 방식으로, 무형의 구성 요소인 네트워크를 선이라는 유형의 이미지로 표현하고 서로 다른 두 이미지를 중첩하는 방식으로 구성하였다.

 복제, 이동, 병치로 구성된 도시 공간은 허구와 현실이 뒤섞인 듯 환영에 가까워지며 관성적으로 보아온 세계에 균열을 일으킨다.

이를 통해 자기 복제를 기반으로 확장하는 도시의 속성 안에서 ‘오리지널리티’에 대한 고찰, 그리고 개인이 느끼는 도시 공간의 감정적 소유와 상실감에 대해 질문을 던진다.

신병곤(1983년 서울 출생)은 대학에서 전자공학을 공부하고 사진가로 활동하고 있다.

<도시미분법: 도시의 분해와 재구성>(2018, 류가헌 Ryugaheon), <도시3부작: 해체와 재구성>(2019, 탈영역우정국 POST TERRITORY UJEONGGUK) 개인전을 개최하였으며 <공간기억>(2019, 김중업건축박물관)등 다수의 기획전에 참여하였다. 

그의 작업 『도시미분법』(vignette, 2017)과 『도시천문학』(piece, 2018)이 출판되었다.

“Urban Telematics” recombines and visualizes the space-time of city in the same way as a communication network based on replication, movement, and juxtaposition of data.

In “Urban Telematics,” architecture, a material component of urban space, is expressed in the manner of a network, which is an immaterial component of urban space, and a network, an immaterial component of urban space, is in turn expressed in an image made up of material lines, and the two images are then superimposed onto each other.

The urban space, composed of replication, movement, and juxtaposition becomes approximate to a phantasm as if fiction and reality were coexisting, causing a crack in the world as we perceive it out of inertia.

Through this, the work induces contemplation about ‘Originality’ within the attributes of urban space which expands itself through self-replication, and it also raises a question about individuals’ emotional ownership and sense of loss they feel in urban space.

Byeonggon Shin (born 1983, Seoul) majored in electronics at university and works as a photographer.

Shin has held the solo exhibitions “Urban Differentiation: Disjoint and Recomposition of Cities” (Ryugaheon, 2018) and “Urban Trilogy: Deconstruction and Reconstruction” (Post Territory Ujeongguk, 2019), and he has also participated in a number of curated exhibitions, including “The Memory of Space” (Kimchungup Architecture Museum, 2019).

His works, “Urban Differentiation” (Vignette, 2017) and “Urban Astronomy” (Piece, 2018) were published.
